Sangay Dendup is the Chief Program Officer of the Commission for Religious Organizations of Bhutan (CROB) under the Department of Culture and Dzongkha Development (DCDD), Ministry of Home Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), a Bachelor's degree in Language and Cultural Studies, and a Master of Public Administration (MPA). With extensive experience in public administration, religious affairs, and cultural heritage management, he has played a leading role in strengthening the governance and institutional development of religious organizations in Bhutan.
He coordinated numerous initiatives related to the registration, regulation, and capacity building of religious organizations, while promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in accordance with the Religious Organizations Act of Bhutan, 2007. He has also spearheaded research, documentation, and digital transformation projects, including the profiling of registered religious organizations and the development of digital information systems to improve institutional management and public access to information. His work has contributed significantly to the preservation and promotion of Bhutan's religious and cultural heritage by strengthening collaboration among religious institutions, government agencies, and local communities. As a resource person, he continues to support policy development, institutional capacity building, and research initiatives that advance the sustainable safeguarding of Bhutan's spiritual and cultural traditions.
